The Week Ahead

Monday, Monday…can’t trust that day…

Oops…Pardon me while I lapse into a Mamas and the Papas moment!  We had a wonderful Father’s Day, at least I think we did, you’d have to ask Ralph.  I think he’d agree.  I realized however that it was almost devoid of photos. 😦

I got up and made breakfast for us.  Simple…Egg sandwiches, but Ralph always enjoys them and that was the point, right?  Here’s mine…

Topped with sriracha sauce.  Yum… I just found a Food Network salad recipe that uses sriracha and from my calculations, I think it will be 0 Points on Weight Watchers.  I’m going to give it a try this week.

My wonderful sister, Ele cooked Ralph his favorite meal for Father’s Day…Thanksgiving in June!  Of course, I only took picture of my own meal, but she made turkey breast, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn and mashed potatoes.  She even made biscuits.  Ralph was So happy.  Especially because he got custody of the leftovers!

My dinner looked like this…

Some of the Huge salad I made to add to the festivities.  I cooked up 2 Morningstar Farms Garden Veggie burgers to chop up and add.  With a bottled balsamic vinaigrette, it was pretty darned good.

Of course no celebration for us seems to be able to end without a trip for ice cream.

My new favorite…black raspberry…way to big and way too much and I sure didn’t need the cone too, could have had it in a cup.  Regardless, it was a splurge and it will not continue!

This leads me to why I titled this post “The Week Ahead.”  I didn’t have a chance to share my results from Weight Watchers on Saturday.  I gained 2 and 1/2 pounds.  Not good, Norman!  In spite of writing everything down…and I mean everything…good or bad…it got written down, I know I was off track and a little out of control.  I’ve made an important decision.  I can’t have peanut butter in the house, at least not regular peanut butter.  I don’t have a problem with almond butter or sunflower butter, but if there’s a jar of regular peanut butter in the house…it’s the jar, the spoon and Me!  That has to stop and I think it has to go the way of all chips…it just can’t be around on a regular basis.  I’ll rely on the other nut butters because I don’t find myself having the problem of mindless eating from the jar.

That said, I’m starting myself off for a good week.  I need to add some more exercise into the week as well…that will help. But I have to get on track and focus on what I’m doing in ALL areas.  I think I’m going to try to get back to meditation.  That helped me focus before and it’s easy enough to do…I have what I need…I just have to Do it!

I’m shooting for being the perfect Weight Watchers example this week.  We’ll see where that gets me.  Having you all behind me is a big help and having a place to talk about it helps also.    I know I can Do this!

Happy Monday!!  Eat a Carrot!! 😉

  1. Of course you can do it! It’s just a blip and who could not eat that delicious looking ice cream! I hear you on the PB. The one I have an issue with is Justin’s chocolate hazelnut butter. It tastes like nutella but is healthier (but not when you eat 10 servings…). Me and the spoon are in therapy and Justin only gets to visit occasionally now. I will be cheering you on Fran!

  2. for sure i am in your corner, cheering you on this week, fran! thumbs up and let us know if you need more encouragement as the week goes on. i DO love pb from the jar as well…maranatha crunchy! (sorry, should we not talk about this?!).
glad ralph had a great father’s day. and i am glad you got to celebrate with ele and enjoy ice cream.
your egg sandwiches bring back a fond memory: that was one of our favourite easy suppers, as kids. we called them mommy mcmuffins after the ones at mcdonalds!
    have a great day, fran!

  3. Like Tony Robbins always says….I’m not telling you anything new or anything that you don’t already know, you just have to start using it! That is so true for me. Well, you can walk with me each day if you want to and I would be glad to have a meditation time with you. So…will you join me?

    • We’ll see. Sometimes the urge to do it hits me and I just do it. Although I should get my act together and plan a time, so that I’m sure I do it. I can’t eat with my mala in my hand! (well, actually I probably Can…but I probably Shouldn’t.)

  4. I know you can do it!

That egg sandwich looks great. I used to make those a lot but haven’t in a long time. I wonder why… 🙂

    Have a great Monday!

  5. I had a couple carrots in my smoothie this am! Your salad looks great!

  6. Your peanut butter issues bring back memories for me..when I was on ww in the 80s…pb was the food I would cheat with the most…exactly as you said, me, the jar, and a spoon. I think part of the issue was back then, you did it by category…(protein, bread, fat…). I always struggled with the protein, so pb was helpful, but it counted as a protein *and* a fat…and you could only have 3 fat servings a day….so I always wanted more pb than I could have!

  7. Weighting For 50

Hi Fran, I’m SURE you’ll have the on track week you want, and your results will pay off. Take care, have a good one.

    • Thanks, Roz! You know how it can be sometimes since you’re on WW, too. I just have to focus and do my best and be honest about what I actually eat. That’s all I can do. When I try to fool myself that I haven’t done it…that’s when I get in real trouble!

  8. I LOVE THANKSGIVING FOOD! i think even now, it’s one of my favorite meals. i am completely thrilled with a plate of green bean casserole, sweet potatoes + brown sugar, and cranberry sauce [but only the kind from the can. with no chunks.]

i know. i do thanksgiving up healthy. 😉

uhhhhh, PS, i still need some ice cream kids in my life this summer.

    • Don’t work little chickadee…we’ll get you to ICK this summer! I need to stay away, or at least get just a small cup, no cone. I love making all of the Thanksgiving stuff. You left out succatash on that plate though…gotta have succatash!

  9. What is it about peanut butter?? I can’t have an opened jar sitting around either–if it lasts even two day, it’s a miracle. But almond butter will sit in my fridges for weeks, barely touched. That raspberry ice cream? Yeah, that’d disappear pretty fast too. Good luck with resetting your goals and staying on track!
