The Productive Day (With Too Much Eating Out!)

Tuesday was a busy day as I mentioned it would be and a productive one as well.  I had my mammogram appointment at 12:15 (ouch…) and that went well.  We had to go to Ralph’s former department to get some reimbursements handled and ask a few pieces of info about our new insurance.  That was all handled well.  It sounds like I’m coming up on a big “BUT…”  I’m not everything went well.

After my appointment, we had some time to wait before we could head to the township building so we went for breakfast/lunch.

Had a Greek omelette with cottage cheese on the side.  This was not as good as others I’ve had but it was tasty.  Also not happy about the fact that they charged me $2.99 for a side of cottage cheese instead of home fries.  Other restaurants just make the switch for you.  Oh, well…

After our second appointment and a stop at the bank, we headed home.  However after doing a few things around the house, Ralph said he wanted to go out to eat!  I’m not that big a fan of eating out twice in one day.  First of all…it’s Expensive! Secondly, it tends to lead me off track.  I said Ok because I couldn’t handle the moping face.  You’ve seen the moping face, haven’t you?!

This was very tasty, but way more Points than I wanted to use.  Romaine lettuce, mandarin oranges, avocado, dried cranberries, red grapes, walnuts and gorgonzola cheese.  I picked a lime chipotle dressing which was very tasty, but I could tell it was high in points.  I did my dip the fork in the dressing and then in the salad trick.  That helps.  It was very good. 700 Points?  Sounds about right!!

I want to share with all of you a new blog.  It’s called moms-retreat. It’s written by three young Moms, one of whom I know very well, the other two are her friends. Sue was the best friend of my niece Mary who passed away.  Sue is a wonderful girl (still a girl to me) Mom to 5 beautiful children and wife of a (to use her words) “smokin’ hot husband.”  She’s been cracking me up with her Facebook posts and I’ve been suggesting she start a blog.  I don’t know if my nudging had anything to do with moms-retreat coming to reality, but I like to think that it did. Please take a look.  There’s a lot about life and love and young motherhood.  I think it’s worth the read.

Not sure what’s on tap for today.  Just trying to keep my head above water.

Question for the Universe: Why do some men insist that the hard way to do things is the way things should be done even when the easy way has been offered?  I was able to convince one of these men that the easy way was in fact the easy way.  I feel very fulfilled right now.  I’m so impressed with myself sometimes! 😉

Happy Thursday!!  Go read moms-retreat!

  1. fran, i commend you for going out again with ralph – ok, i AM laughing at “couldn’t handle the thought of moping,” but still, i think this is a great example of give and take in a relationship. the salad does look wonderful!
that is so cool that your friend started a blog! i do wish more of my real-life friends blogged…in fact, i can’t think of any longtime friends who blog!
    happy thursday!

    • Thanks, Cathy! I try to let Ralph have his own way. Sometimes it’s difficult! I wish more of my real life friends would blog also. Some of them have pretty amazing stories to tell. It’s a fun thing that I share with my young friend, Kristen. She’s the one who got me started! Have a great day!

  2. I totally hear you on the eating out thing. Often times, I prefer to eat in because I know exactly what’s going in my mouth. You made great choices in the situation though and that’s what’s important! 🙂

    • Hi Jennifer, thanks for visiting! I try so hard to stay on track and I get frustrated with eating out. Being vegetarian and being on Weight Watchers, some restaurants just aren’t a good choice for me. Thanks for the encouragement. Please visit again!

  3. That salad looks great. It’s the avocado that draws me in. 😉

Going to check out that blog. Thanks!

  4. Lol. Moping is not cool. That salad looks gorgeous!!!!

  5. I always sign up for avocado, I’m totally addicted! Frustrating that restaurant salads can really add up though–sometimes they are more calories than an entree!

I’ll for sure go check out your friend’s blog!

    • Stacie, for a long time I didn’t really like avocado. Over the last few years, I really started to enjoy them. It is frustrating how a salad can add up. Sometimes I’ll ask for things to be left out and always have dressing on the side. Thanks for checking out moms-retreat.

  6. If you were able to convince any man that any of his thoughts/behaviors weren’t the best…I am impressed! I bow before your convincing skills…

And $3 for cottage cheese?? You can buy a whole tub of it for less than that! Grrr, restaurants.

    • Allie, thanks for the confidence. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Most of the diners around here will substitute the cottage cheese as a straight sub. We hadn’t been to this one in a while. Guess they have to pay for their renovation some how… 😦

  7. That salad looks really good. I love avocados…so any excuse to eat them makes me very happy. Mr. sc laughs at me because I have all these food rules/policies about not wanting to eat the same type of food too many meals/nights in a row…like I’ll say “I thought about buying lunch today, but then I knew we’d be heading out for dinner…so I brought…” I’m always thinking 5 meals beyond the meal I’m going to eat!

    • Zo, with that foresight, you would make a Great WW member! 😉 Ralph even said to me that night, “How can you eat the same thing all the time?” I like my salads and they work for me. I have rules too, though. He just has NONE and it makes him a little crazy that I do.

  8. I’m glad everything went well…I fear the mammogram situation. But it’s a must, especially seeing as my mom had breast cancer.

Eating out more than 1 X a day used to be a problem for me too. But these days I manage to keep it together. I suppose traveling doesn’t really allow for anything else. 🙂
