Week In Review~June 10

To show just how confused I am lately, I just typed “May 10” at the top of this post and didn’t realize my mistake for a while.  But things are getting better and it is of course time for Week In Review, the fun link up started by Meghan at Clean Eats, Fast Feets. Spell check always wants me to correct “feets.” Someone make it stop!  😉

On to the Review!

Week In Review Button Final

As I was going through this week, it seemed disjointed and in many ways it was, but now as I think back on it, it was better.  I don’t really enjoy being in this confused state, but all will work out in the end, I’m confident.

Tuesday, I accompanied Ralph to do something that he really enjoys. I think this is the fourth year he has done this. He was invited by the art teacher of our local school to give a drawing class to the sixth grade class.  He loves teaching children to draw and he truly lights up when he’s doing it. This is the second year that I’ve been with him and I think this class was especially attentive.  I think I was right about that because he stayed probably 20 minutes after their class time answering questions by students that came up to him and wanted to ask how to do specific things.

It’s a little blurry, but that’s him at work.  Yes, he wears that shirt a lot, it’s one of his favorites!  The interesting thing to me about this class is that the art teacher used to be the mayor of our town and she performed our marriage ceremony.  Pretty cool!

Wednesday had us taking care of some important business.  So happy to have things underway.  Can’t talk about them here, but suffice it to say, it is a very good thing.

Thursday we realized that it was close to departure time for Gail to go to Maine.  Her brother Ray has been wanting to take us to the Golden Corral for lunch to pay back all the breakfasts that Ralph has bought and we thought this would be a good day.  Gail and Ray are leaving for Maine on Saturday, Alice will still be here for another week and a half to attend a graduation.  Thank goodness everyone isn’t leaving me at once! We had a great time at lunch and I was proud of myself for only eating from the salad bar…no desserts for me!

Friday we had our last lunch with all of us together at Taco Bell.  We have the best time when we go there.  We sit and talk for a long time.  Best $1.27 you’ll spend anywhere!

Saturday Gail and her brother headed off to Maine.  Alice and I headed to Weight Watchers.  I was happy…I lost a half pound and I’m hovering around my original WW goal weight.  I’m shocked at that.  Alice reached 95 pounds lost and of course, was pretty happy herself!  She’s hoping to reach 100 pounds off before she leaves for Maine…she’d like to reach it here with our regular leader.  Fingers crossed…she’s got almost two weeks to do it!

Sunday found me sleeping in until 7am! That’s because Ralph and I were up most of the night watching a Perry Mason marathon.  Ok…crazy, I know but we both Love the old show.  So much fun to see who shows up in bit parts…last night it was Robert Redford!

This afternoon I will be going with Ele to our regular spiritual Gathering.  We both really enjoy it.  Tonight will be the big deal, though…The Tony Awards!  Over the years, I’ve become less inclined to watch this, but this year I have a great reason…one of my college professors is nominated!  I had the good fortune and (I don’t use this word lightly) honor to have Dr. Joe Robinette as one of my professors.  He was well-known at Glassboro State College, later Rowan University for the many children’s musicals which he wrote.  He is nominated for the book of the musical, A Christmas Story.  The show is also nominated for Best Musical.  I am so excited for him.  He is just the nicest man and deserves all the success in the world.  Some day I’ll tell the story of running into him in Tijuana…but that ‘s a story for another day.  Good Luck, Dr. Joe!!

That’s Week In Review for me.  Wordier than I initially thought it would be.  Be sure to stop by at Clean Eats, Fast Feets to see what fun everyone else is having!

Happy Monday!

  1. How neat for your college professor! Did he win? I wasn’t able to watch it. Sounds like you have a had a pretty great week!

  2. Sounds like a great week! We’ve gotten into old “I Love Lucy” episodes and the “Brady Bunch.” They are corny but fun to watch.

  3. Aw that’s so cool that Ralph does that! I’m AWFUL at drawing. He should come teach me 🙂

  4. Perry Mason is one of my favorite shows!!! I watched it with my dad all the time growing up. Also Matlock and Murder She Wrote. We don’t watch a lot of T.V. here but lately we’ve been watching Murder she wrote and Monk, my kids love a good ‘light’ mystery.

    • Murder She Wrote is one of Ralph’s favorites. We have a cable channel here that will run an entire weekend marathon of Perry and then one of Jessica!! We love it. Glad the kids are learning to enjoy the old shows. Have a great day!

  5. You have had a great week 🙂

  6. I think my dad has that same floral shirt!! It sounds like you had quite a week 🙂 Happy Monday!!

  7. That’s such a great thing for Ralph to do. I bet the kids enjoy it just as much as he does! I always loved art class in middle school, but have never been much of a drawer.
Looks like you had a good week overall! Have a great day!

  8. What a great week in review Fran, and I love Ralph’s idea of teaching little ones to draw. What a fun learning experience that would have been. I like the idea of teaching little ones all about fruits and veggies and how to easily cook them.

    • I like teaching people that, too, Meghan! Sometimes they don’t want to listen, though! 😉 Ralph is so great with kids, he should be teaching all the time. He has so many great ideas. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
